(BANGKOK, March 2021)—Between January and March 2021, Fortify Rights secured a total of US$11,790 in emergency funds to directly support human rights defenders at-risk of persecution or violence. The emergency assistance grants supported an ethnic-led media outlet in Myanmar and a human rights defender in Thailand. Since the Myanmar military coup on February 1, Fortify Rights has also been in regular communication with human rights defenders and our partners and allies to ensure their safety amid escalating violence and threats of arrest and attacks by the Myanmar junta. In March, we helped three high-profile, at-risk partners safely relocate to secure locations.
