The Myanmar Junta Conducts Air Strikes in Laiza, Kachin State

On October 31 and November 1, 2023, the Myanmar junta launched multiple air strikes in Laiza, Kachin State. China warned its own residents with air-raid sirens. “It felt like the world was crashing down on us,” a Laiza resident told Fortify Rights. U.N. Member States must coordinate to hold the junta accountable for atrocity crimes nationwide and urgently prevent the sale and transfer of aviation fuel to the junta. It is a war crime to target civilians knowingly or recklessly with indiscriminate weapons. The impunity in Myanmar must come to an end.
