(MYANMAR, July 2023)—Between July 12 and 13, 2023, Fortify Rights facilitated a human rights documentation training for lawyers from Myanmar working on environmental and human rights issues. Twenty lawyers participated in the hybrid training, including 15 attending in-person and five joining via Zoom. The training included sessions on understanding the values and principles of human rights documentation, the international human rights legal framework, and the prohibition of torture and other cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment under international human rights law.
Feedback on the training was overwhelmingly positive, with majority of the participants requesting follow-up trainings from Fortify Rights to expand topics on international human rights law and universal jurisdiction.
