(BANGKOK, February 13, 2020)—Thailand continues to hold children in immigration detention, but human rights defenders are mobilizing to end the practice. In February, Fortify Rights and local partners co-hosted a workshop in Bangkok to assess Thailand’s performance in ending the detention of children by immigration authorities. During the “Scorecard Workshop,” participants used a comparative tool developed by NextGen Index in partnership with the International Detention Coalition to assess States on their progress towards ending child immigration detention. Fortify Rights continues to work with our partners to engage Thai authorities on this issue.
