Benedict Rogers has been with Fortify Rights since 2025. He is a human rights activist and writer specialising in Asia, with over three decades of research and advocacy experience. He previously co-founded and led Hong Kong Watch, and worked for thirty years with Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW), leading investigations and advocacy on Myanmar, North Korea, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. He is the recipient of the International Religious Freedom (IRF) Summit’s award for Champion of Effective Advocacy, and the International Catholic Legislators Network (ICLN)’s St Thomas More Award for advocacy for religious freedom, and serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees of Hong Kong Watch, a member of the advisory group of the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China (IPAC), a member of the advisory board of the Stop Uyghur Genocide Campaign, and a trustee of the Phan Foundation.
Ben is also a co-founder of the International Coalition to Stop Crimes Against Humanity in North Korea (ICNK) and the South-East Asia Freedom of Religion or Belief (SEAFoRB) conference and network. He is the author of seven books, including The China Nexus: Thirty Years In and Around the Chinese Communist Party’s Tyranny (Optimum Publishing International, 2022) and Burma: A Nation at the Crossroads (Random House, 2012), and a regular contributor to international media. He has testified at hearings in the US Congress, the European Parliament, the Japanese Parliament and the UK Parliament and is a regular speaker at conferences around the world. He holds an M.A. in China Studies from School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London and a B.A. in Modern History and Politics from Royal Holloway, University of London.
