(BANGKOK, July 3, 2025)—On July 3, 2025, the Thai parliamentary Working Group on Monitoring and Addressing Issues of Irregular Migration appointed Fortify Rights Thailand Human Rights Associate Thanida Piyachot to join the working group as an expert on refugee issues in Thailand. The Working Group is focused on analyzing Thailand’s immigration deportation procedures and potential forced returns of refugees.
Thanida Piyachot has been a member of the Fortify Rights team since 2023 and has been working for the rights of refugees, human rights defenders, and survivors of human rights abuses since 2021. She served as an advisor in the Subcommittee to Study Approaches to Solving Problems Related to Refugees and those Fleeing Armed Conflict along the Thai-Myanmar Border and the Thai Parliamentary Committee on National Security, Border Affairs, National Strategy, and National Reform in 2024.
