(LONDON, December 2025)—Between October and December 2025, U.K. parliamentarians—including David Alton (November 17, November 4), Fiona Hodgson (October 21), Natalie Bennett (October 20), Shaun Bailey (October 30), Arlene Foster (November 18), Andrew Mitchell (November 13), Iain Duncan Smith (October 27), and Fabian Hamilton (October 24)—tabled parliamentary drafted with Fortify Rights’ support on Myanmar and China. These prompted substantive on-record responses from Jenny Chapman (December 2, December 1, November 18, November 12, November 3, November 3) and Seema Malhotra (November 23, November 3, November 3), reaffirming the U.K.’s rejection of sham elections in Myanmar; condemning of junta airstrikes and atrocity crimes; expansion and enforcement of sanctions, including on aviation fuel; supporting for accountability through international mechanisms; backing for the U.N. Special Rapporteur and engagement with the National Unity Government of Myanmar; calling for action on Myanmar’s scam centers; advocating for sustained humanitarian assistance; and urging continued diplomatic pressure on China over arbitrary detentions and violations of freedom of religion or belief.
Fortify Rights engaged parliamentarians on these issues and assisted in drafting formal questions later raised in parliament.
