Fortify Rights Documentation Cited in U.N. Report on Gendered Impacts of the Coup in Myanmar

(GENEVA, July 2, 2024)—On July 2, 2024, The U.N. Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Myanmar Tom Andrews cited Fortify Rights documentation in his report Courage amid Crisis: Gendered impacts of the coup and the pursuit of gender equality in Myanmar. Earlier in January 2024, Fortify Rights submitted a ten-page memo on the gendered impacts of the Myanmar coup to the U.N. Special Rapporteur. The research included documentation on violations committed against Karenni and Kachin women and girls in Myanmar as well as Rohingya women refugees in Bangladesh.
