(BANGKOK, September 2021)—Between July and September 2021, Fortify Rights secured a total of more than US$150,000 in emergency assistance to directly support human rights defenders at-risk. This supported included more than 24 small grants for human rights defenders in hiding in Myanmar and elsewhere, members of the Civil Disobedience Movement in Myanmar, student activists, civil society organizations, political activists, journalists, an artist, a filmmaker, a writer, and a refugee in Malaysia. These cash distributions enable at-risk human rights defenders to safely evade persecution at critical moments.
