(COX’S BAZAR, August 2025)—On August 25, 2025, Rohingya camp-based refugee groups in Cox’s Bazar District, Bangladesh, released a statement on the anniversary of the start of the Myanmar military “clearance” operations against the Rohingya community in Myanmar. The military killed, tortured, raped, and arrested an untold number of Rohingya men, women, and children during the operations, forcing hundreds of thousands of Rohingya to flee to neighboring countries, including Bangladesh. The authors of the statement are among the many survivors of the military-led attacks, which continue in Myanmar.
In the statement, the groups called for broader representation of Rohingya survivors in a high-level conference on the situation of the Rohingya scheduled to take place in September 2025 in U.N. General Assembly.
