(February 2025)—In February 2025, the Myanmar-led Burma War Crimes Investigation (BWCI) published its first full-length report. The 38-page publication entitled, “They Only Want Our Lives:” The Killing and Detention of Civilians in Southern Shan State, Myanmar, exposed how a junta-allied armed group killed four men and one woman and arrested 11 others. The report included six specialized maps to visualize the areas of documented abuses.
Fortify Rights supported BWCI by editing and providing suggestions for the report as well as assisting with the design and layout of the publication.
