(BANGKOK, March 26, 2024)— Between March 26 and 28, 2024, Fortify Rights conducted a three-day participatory training on human rights documentation and advocacy for eight young women human rights defenders from Kachin State, Myanmar.
The workshop equipped the human rights defenders with skills and knowledge on the instruments of the international human rights framework, carrying out documentation, interviewing, advocating, engaging the media, and managing security risks related to our human rights work. Each session in the three-day workshop was highly participatory and focused on extending practical skills and knowledge to effectively and safely conduct human rights documentation and advocacy.
Sharing feedback on the training, one participant said:, “I got plenty of new knowledge and it will be useful for my own life and our country.” Another shared about how this will inspire her future work, “I really want to share [the knowledge] … and work for the people who are committed [to fighting for] their rights after I participated in this event.
