(MAE SOT, February 2023)—In February 2023, Fortify Rights conducted two separate multimedia trainings for groups working on the Myanmar-Thailand border.
On February 17, 2023, Fortify Rights facilitated an introductory video-editing training for members of the Burma Children’s Medical Fund, a humanitarian group responding to the urgent medical needs of children from Myanmar. The training included information on project workflow, subtitling, video, and sound editing, developing overlays, and animation walkthroughs. The training also included a two-part practicum to edit a 30-second video clip using text, overlay, graphics, video, and sound, and to animate a traveling icon across a map. Fortify Rights established a group chat to provide ongoing technical support to the two training participants.
Earlier in the month, on February 9, 2023, Fortify Rights conducted a half-day training on animation for the Karen Human Rights Group (KHRG), a Karen-led human rights group focused on supporting the rights of the Karen people. KHRG requested the training after seeing the animations used in Fortify Rights’s film “We Will Die There.” During the training, Fortify Rights covered straight and curved line animations, tracking icons, tracking maps, event marker animations, and different overlay styles.
