(BANGLADESH, June 2022)— On May 5, 2022, New York Times published quotes from Rohingya refugee Mohammad Showfie in an article entitled “Bangladesh Shutters Dozens of Schools Set Up by Rohingya in Camps.” In the article, he was quoted saying “We don’t want to stay in Bangladesh forever . . . We want to go back to our country when the situation allows, but for that we need to educate our children.”
Fortify Rights connected New York Times to Mohammad Showfie, helping to ensure the inclusion of Rohingya voices in the media.
